What is concrete slabs?

Concrete slabs are a typical structural element in buildings. A concrete slab is a flat, thick, horizontal concrete surface that is utilized for the construction of a roof or floor. Concrete slabs are employed in some homes for support of the foundation or directly on ground.

Our Concrete Slab Installation Process

Concrete slabs can be a challenge when you don't have the knowledge and skills for them. Port St. Lucie Concrete Contractors adhere to strict concrete slab installation procedures that conform to industry standards and local codes.

Safety is the top priority in all the concrete projects we work on. When a project begins we ensure that we have the right safety equipment. Eye protection, long sleeves, long pants, rubber boots gloves, and gloves are all parts of our safety gear. These all protect us from concrete splashes, that could affect our overall health and well-being.

As with the process we follow the following steps:

Step 1 - Onsite Preparation

No matter how small or big the project is, we follow the same process. Cleaning the area is the initial step in all of our projects. We clean the area and dispose of debris so that we can begin on a clean slate. In the course of our preparation process we ensure that everything is on site. We plan the delivery of the materials prior to the time we begin the actual work. This allows us the ability to begin and finish the project on-time.

Step 2: Form Concrete Forms with Steel and Reinforce Concrete Slabs with Steel

Once the site is clean and ready, we proceed with the construction of concrete forms with wire mesh. Concrete forms are solid blocks that keep concrete mix in place. Concrete forms force concrete mix to take on a specific shape or style. Rebar is used to strengthen concrete to support larger structures. This makes concrete stronger.

Step 3: Mixing Concrete Mix

Concrete trucks make things much easier. It helps ensure concrete materials are mixed properly. Sometimes, we do manual mixing. In the majority of projects the use of a concrete mixer is likely to be needed.

Step 4: Pouring Concrete

When we're done mixing concrete then the concrete slab is poured into the forms. We do it carefully as we pour the concrete mix in order to prevent creating air pockets. Air pockets are caused by not enough mortar being filled with aggregate. We ensure that the concrete mix is evenly distributed across the shape.
